Lead Destination Summit by Bon Abroad

“Local but global”
These three words perfectly sum up Bon Abroad’s vision of making a positive impact both locally and internationally.
The Lead Destination Summit, Bon Abroad’s annual event, continues this project by celebrating the potential of diaspora communities around the world. Scheduled for June 20, 2024, coinciding with World Refugee Day, this event symbolizes Bon Abroad’s commitment to supporting refugee communities, as well as fostering collaboration and innovation within the diaspora ecosystem.

After successfully setting up a test version of our annual event in 2023, we are now preparing to launch the full version of the event in Lyon.

Through the Lead Destination Summit, we aim to bring together stakeholders, local ambassadors, as well as leaders from countries of origin residing in more than ten host countries around the world. Co-organized by diaspora entrepreneurs themselves, this gathering will serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, ideas and good practices, in order to have a positive impact and promote the socio-economic integration of diaspora communities around the world.

With more than 280 million members worldwide, members of the global diaspora have strong social, cultural, and economic ties with their home countries. The valorization of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) sector presents a significant opportunity in promoting sustainable development in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Through the Lead Destination Summit, we aim to foster social, economic and cultural exchanges between host countries and countries of origin in the global diaspora. We continuously support and develop initiatives and projects related to these axes, while implementing innovative tools to measure the impact of our event.

The Lead Destination Summit is dedicated to exploring the vast potential of the diaspora in various fields, as well as using technology within the framework of Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) principles to activate local initiatives, projects and collaborative business models that can have a lasting global impact.

Our areas of expertise are:
– Remittances for development.
– Digital platforms for SSE collaboration.
– The Impact Investing Network.
– Entrepreneurship incubators and accelerators.
– Cultural and artistic exchanges.
– Knowledge and skills transfer workshops.
– Support for sustainable development.

By focusing on these areas, the Lead Destination Summit aims to identify potential projects and initiatives and to mobilize the resources necessary to achieve the various objectives. Finally, we aim to build a strong, scalable and sustainable global diaspora business ecosystem.

This year, at the Lead Destination Summit, we aim to welcome nearly three hundred people from different cultures, backgrounds and organizations.
